Aquaculture Europe conference, Trondheim, Norway
[released on: 14/08/2009]
<strong>Event date</strong>:
2009-08-14 The international conference Aquaculture Europe 2009 is scheduled for the period of 14 to 17 August in Trondheim, Norway.
Research has been crucial to the development of aquaculture over the last three decades, and Europe has been a leader. European research has focused primarily on the validation of new species production; breeding, nutrition and health management. As aquaculture continues to develop, though, research will undergo fundamental change. Current technologies have potentially reached their limits and require re-thinking.
Aquaculture Europe 2009 will address this challenge and will provide an international forum to discuss the latest research initiatives.

Workshop on grid economics and business models, Delft, Netherlands
[released on: 24/08/2009]
<strong>Event date</strong>:
2009-08-24 The Sixth International Workshop on Grid Economics and Business Models ('GECON') will take place on 24 August in Delft, Netherlands.
The commercial exploitation of grid computing is slowly starting to become popular under the term 'cloud computing'. Existing solutions are very diverse, ranging from Resource-as-a-Service (RaaS) models to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) models. However, the existing cloud offerings can only be purchased directly from a provider; they cannot be traded in a common market. Such a market could act as a focal point for buyers and sellers to meet. In fact, any market participant could act as a resource provider or resource seller, depending on the current demand level.
The aims of this workshop are to discuss issues associated with the development of a common market for resources, suggest future directions of research and extensions to existing technologies, and look at the successful deployment of a commercial, service-oriented market for (computing, software, data) resources.
GECON is sponsored by GRIDECON ('Grid Economics and Business Models'), a project funded by the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). GRIDECON explores the perceived economic barriers to the adoption of grid computing by industry and small to medium enterprises across Europe.
